We are delighted to announce the promotion of Lauren Carmichael, Sophie Capo-Bianco, and Oscar Smith to Partner at Expatriate Law.
Each has made an exceptional contribution to the firm’s growth and reputation, demonstrating outstanding expertise in international family law and a commitment to delivering the highest standard of client care.
Lauren Carmichael
Lauren specialises in international family law cases involving England, South Africa and the UAE, having lived and practised in both South Africa and Dubai. She advises in high-net-worth matters including:
- Multi-jurisdictional pre- and post-nuptial agreements
- Jurisdiction disputes
- Complex financial remedy proceedings
- Schedule 1 and Part III claims
Lauren also has extensive experience in complex children disputes, including international and domestic contact arrangements, abduction cases, relocation matters, and proceedings requiring toxicology or forensic assessments.
Sophie Capo-Bianco
Sophie’s practice focuses on highly complex private children law matters, including wardship and cases involving allegations of domestic violence, substance misuse and parental alienation.
She also acts in contested financial remedy proceedings, particularly where disclosure is deficient, and has secured urgent maintenance pending suit orders, legal services payment orders, and Schedule 1 awards for high-net-worth international families.
Sophie is regularly instructed in international jurisdiction races, including cases requiring Hemain injunctions and freezing orders.
Oscar Smith
Oscar maintains a broad international practice spanning Europe, the Middle East and Australia, with a particular focus on high-net-worth international divorce and children matters. He is regularly instructed in complex jurisdiction disputes, financial cases and overseas relocation of children, and is a Resolution-accredited specialist in high-net-worth financial remedies and cohabitation.
He also advises on collaborative law and alternative dispute resolution, helping families resolve matters amicably wherever possible. His practice includes pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and all matters involving unmarried couples.
We are proud to welcome Lauren, Sophie and Oscar to the Partnership and look forward to their continued leadership as we expend our international practice.
