Consultant

eliza@expatriatelaw.com | mob: +44 (0) 7825 171286

Eliza works with high net worth, high profile and international private clients advising on all areas of family law, but particularly complex financial disputes, jurisdiction battles and multi-jurisdictional prenups. Formerly practising at Farrer & Co since 2001 (partner from 2011-2021), Eliza is recognised across the private wealth sector as a leader in her field, acting for some of the highest-profile and wealthiest individuals and families in London.

Eliza is particularly known for her expertise in resolving disputes about children, including contested international relocation cases, risk of harm cases (including international abduction/flight risk), paternity disputes, applications by grandparents and cases involving addiction or mental health problems.

Eliza has been ranked for many years as a leading individual in the Legal 500, Spears 500, Citywealth leaders list, Chambers UK and Chambers HNW guide which recommend her as follows:

Eliza has a ‘dedication and commitment to her clients’ cases that is simply extraordinary’.

“She has extremely good technical knowledge,” says a source. “She is excellent; very empathetic, very caring and very professional. She dealt with everything marvellously. I like her manner hugely, she can put clients at ease while remaining thoroughly professional. I would thoroughly recommend her.”

“Leading light” Eliza is a highly commended high net worth family lawyer with particular experience in cross-border divorces, especially those with a US dimension.”

“Landed aristocrats, royalty, celebs and billionaires are among Eliza Hebditch’s clients. This is no surprise – the solicitor is lauded as a leading individual in Legal 500’s 2020 Hall of Fame. Hebditch has a ‘deep instinctive understanding’ of dispute resolution, particularly where there is an international nexus. HNWs rush to her for help with untangling complex trusts-related challenges, or to resolve ‘the most difficult of family problems’.”

Eliza has long been involved with the American Bar Association (she is former chair of the International Family Law Section), AIJA and Resolution. She is a regular speaker at international conferences, having presented in London, Zurich, Geneva, Budapest, Malta, Cannes, New York, Seattle, Chicago and Washington DC. She has spoken on many international family law issues including asset tracing, international prenuptial agreements, cross-border jurisdiction battles, same sex parents’ custody disputes, attacks on trusts and international custody issues.
