After obtaining a Bachelors and Masters degree at university, Sophie went on to obtain a distinction in family law at the College of Law in London. Sophie trained at and worked for Goodman Ray Solicitors, a niche specialist family law firm in London, for five years before joining Expatriate Law in Dubai in August 2014. Sophie spent three years in the Dubai office before returning to England in July 2017 where she continues to advise British expatriates from multiple jurisdictions on a range of family law matters through the English courts.
Sophie is experienced in managing her own caseload and undertaking a wide range of family law matters. Her work has involved advising clients in international jurisdiction disputes concerning divorce and complex financial remedy proceedings where she has obtained urgent maintenance pending suit orders and legal services orders for financially dependent spouses. Sophie has had experience in various private children law proceedings dealing with highly acrimonious residence and contact cases together with domestic violence cases and wardship proceedings.
Clients describe Sophie as hard working, approachable and empathetic with their difficult and stressful situation. Her determined attitude ensures that she will protect her client as well as providing balanced legal advice.
I just wanted to drop you an email to say thank you for all your work on my behalf. I appreciate I have been an impatient and an annoying client at times, it has easily been the most terrible thing I have ever been through in my life. You have made it a little better by keeping me in the loop and updated and by being patient with me. So, Thank You very much.
I’m really grateful for Sophie’s hard work and highly recommend her as a solicitor. Since the first time I met Sophie, her dealings with this case have been highly professional. She made sure I understand all the stages and procedures, with constant reminders and updates of where we are standing at, offered professional advice when I needed it the most, never failed to convey messages from the other party and was always on top of things. I highly appreciate all her support in getting me through this matter, in exactly the same period of time she predicted and in such an efficient manner.
Sophie made what was a very difficult personal experience for me a lot easier to deal with. She always made time to listen to my worries and concerns and really made me feel that she always had my best personal interests at heart. She made everything clear and made me realise know matter how difficult the circumstances, that there is always an end point and walked me every bit of the way too it.I could not be happier with her help and expertise.

[...] Despite Co-VID, despite the distance between London and where I am abroad, my matters were handled most sensitively and speedily by Sophie Capo-Blanco and her team.
The perception I have is of the client coming first, where one's choices are valued, carefully considered and then carefully advised. Thus options become swiftly available; which in turn are underpinned by Sophie's solid legal expertise. The client is more than informed regarding their options and their potential consequences. Advice is given on those options and the final client decision is then backed up with efficient and prompt expertise, where things are swiftly moved forward. Collaborative and in one's interests. So a big thumb up to Sophie and her firm from me!
