Tadhgh Barwell O’Connor

Tadhgh is a family law barrister specialising in international cases. He has reported judgments in cross-jurisdictional children cases and frequently appears in the High Court both alone and with (or against) leading counsel. He also has experience of complex finance matters, including provision under Schedule 1 of the Children Act, with overseas parties and assets and subsequent foreign enforcement of English and Welsh orders.

Tadhgh was named Young Barrister of the Year 2024 at the Family Law Awards. He is listed as a ‘Rising Star’ in the Legal 500 in both Finance: “talented … strong eye for detail … with extensive technical knowledge. His advocacy is both persuasive and eloquent” and Children: “thorough and efficient advocate … excellent at managing high conflict and vulnerable clients”. He has contributed to legal publications including the Financial Remedies Journal and is a sought-after public speaker.

Tadhgh is passionate about building an international professional network having been awarded the Pegasus Scholarship to the United States of America Inns of Court in Washington, D.C., a scholarship to attend the Florida Bar Association’s Advanced Trial Advocacy Programme and being selected as a member of the Young Barristers Committee’s delegation to The Netherlands for the Anglo-Dutch Exchange.
