Hero Lomas – Speaker at the UIA Global Mobility Forum in Lisbon

Expatriate Law partner Hero Lomas spoke at the 2nd UIA Biennial Global Mobility Forum in Lisbon.

The Forum brought together international practitioners to explore the legal and practical implications of global mobility. Hero addressed the family law issues that can arise when individuals and families relocate across borders — an increasingly common feature of modern professional life.

Her session examined questions including:

  • Whether pre-nuptial agreements will be recognised following a move abroad
  • The legal framework governing international relocation of children
  • The treatment of cohabitation in different jurisdictions
  • How jurisdiction is determined in cross-border disputes

As international mobility increases, so too does the complexity of family law outcomes. Rights and protections may differ significantly depending on where proceedings are issued and which court assumes jurisdiction. Understanding these distinctions at an early stage can be critical.
