International child relocation

There may be different reasons why you feel a move away will provide the best possible future for your children and for benefit you and your child; perhaps it is to return to your home-town close to your family and friends, perhaps for a job offer that will provide fantastic opportunities or perhaps to a place that offers superior education/health provision/lifestyle; all three examples could be a huge benefit for your child (directly or indirectly).

You may have it all worked out and you are excited to share your intended plans. You speak to your ex but your ex does not share your enthusiasm! What should you do?

Read our 3-part guide about legal considerations when thinking about relocating abroad with a child:

The guides offer some practical tips if you are unable to agree these big changes to your child’s life with your former partner and you are thinking about applying to the court.

At Expatriate Law, we have extensive experience with child relocation cases, whether within the UK, from the UK abroad, or from other countries into the UK. We are here to help you through every stage of the process, from preparing your case to presenting it in court.
